How does recruitment work?
Our recruitment process does not include a typical club application. What is important to us is understanding how you creatively think about and approach solving problems, which is why our application is centered around design challenges. Our challenges are reflective of the impactful projects our members work on each semester, and there are no right or wrong solutions. However, we do want to see how you think and make decisions, so make sure to communicate your thought process!
Are you looking for specific majors or past work experience?
No, we actively encourage students from all majors to apply. As a club, we have over 20 different majors represented across 45+ members. We also do not ask for resumes – we care about you holistically as a person, not what is on a piece of paper.
Do I need to have experience in an area of design?
No! The point of our club is to provide members with hands-on experience with the human-centered design process, through collaborative projects with companies and non-profits. As a new member, you will attend onboarding workshops on the human-centered design process, visual and UI/UX design, Figma, and CAD. We also host design workshops throughout the semester for all members, to help deepen and sharpen our design skills.
What is the weekly time commitment?
Every project is a little bit different, but generally there are 2-4 hours of in-person meetings + work sessions and 2-4 hours of asynchronous work. All members are also required to attend club-wide workshop/social on Fridays from 4-6 PM.
